Kathleen Burnett

Ms. Burnett began her early training at the Lodena Edgecombe School of Dance in Vallejo, California.  While in high school she studied dance at Virginia Intermont College and performed with the Bristol Ballet Company.  Ms. Burnett continued her education on scholarship at Point Park College where she was selected to work with choreographers such as Michael Uthoff, Chen Min, and Ron Cunningham and learned the choreographic classics of Ruth Page from Mr. Kenneth Johnson.  She graduated with a B.A. in dance, magna cum laude.

Ms. Burnett  accepted a graduate teaching assistantship at the University of Oklahoma. Upon completion of her M.F.A. in ballet she was asked to stay on as an instructor and rose to the rank of Assistant Professor of Ballet.While in Oklahoma Ms. Burnett  choreographed 9 ballets on the Oklahoma Festival Ballet in addition to serving as Ballet Mistress, rehearsal assistant, and principal dancer for the company. Highlights of her roles include  "Aurora" in The Sleeping Beauty, "Miranda" in The Tempest, "Fate" in James Clouser's Carmina Burana (with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and the Canterbury Choral Society), "the Pigtail Girl" and "The First Student" in Graduation Ball, "The Sugar Plum Fairy" and "The Dew Drop Fairy" in The Nutcracker, and Primavera Grand Pas de Deux.  In 1996 she was awarded the Outstanding Faculty Award in the College of Fine Arts at the University of Oklahoma and received the Ballet Choreography Award (twice).

Since moving to Los Angeles in 1996, Ms. Burnett has toured the country teaching ballet technique and choreography with the Tremaine Dance Conventions, teaches in Los Angeles at Synthesis Dance Studios, and teaches at Extensions Performing Arts Academy, Dance Magic Dance Studio, Dancin in Acton, and the Antelope Valley College.
