Fall 1998 Production
Tutu's and Tennis Shoes - November 1998 at the Lancaster Performing Arts
Center, Antelope Valley Ballet's Premier Performance which featured the following
ballets:
- A Dancer's Life - Choreography by Kathleen
Burnett; music by Karl Czerny, featuring Erin Clarke and Karen Rollberg with a special
appearance by 7 petite dancers. World Premiere. Traces the life of a young dancer,
set to Czerny's Etudes.
- Encounters - Choreography by Guest Choreographer Julia Stalder; music by Benny
Goodman and George Gershwin; featuring Alec Donovan and Suzanne Felt. Encounters
premiered at the University of Oklahoma in 1995 and is based on circumstances under which
Stalder's grandparents met. Julia Stalder is a native of Southern California and is
currently an Assistant Professor with the University of Oklahoma School of Dance where she
teaches ballet technique, dance history, and is the Ballet Mistress for Oklahoma Festival
Ballet. In addition, Ms. Stalder writes feature articles and reviews professional
companies for national dance publications.
- Romeo and Juliet, Balcony Pas de Deux - Choreography by Kathleen
Burnett; music by Serge Prokofiev; featuring Alec Donovan and guest artist Crystal
Allen. World Premier. Crystal Allen is currently a member of the Cincinnati
Ballet.
- Peter and the Wolf - Choreography by Lara
Arnaiz; music by Serge Prokofiev; featuring Jesse Marks. World Premier.
- Sports - Choreography by Kathleen Burnett;
music by Rimsky-Korsakov, Smetana, Anderson, Sousa. Sports premiered by the Oklahoma
Festival Ballet in 1995. Sports is a comic ballet about the fun of athletics.
